What Is Trainer Development?

Trainer Development is a “learn-by-doing” course that teaches leaders, managers and supervisors how to think about improvements in a structured, scientific manner. TWI Institute Certified Trainers “coach the coaches” in how to not only establish the essential Kata concepts, scientific thinking and the behavioral principles in the workplace, but to ensure that the culture of learning is adaptable and sustainable.

Trainer development focuses on practicing both the Improvement Kata and Coaching Kata to help  leaders build habits in how to set goals, establish current and target conditions, identify obstacles and conduct Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)-based experimentation.

Upon completion, your people will have the knowledge and skills to deliver the Kata Training and Coaching course and sustain a long-term habit of scientific thinking and improvement.

What We Will Cover

The Kata Trainer Development program is built on TWI Institute’s successful “train the trainer” module. Delivered by TWI Institute Master Kata Trainers, this program builds capacity and expertise in your organization to facilitate the spread of Kata.

Participants meet for 40 hours over the course of one week to learn and extensively practice delivery of the Kata 10-hour program. Upon completion, participants will be able to confidently and skillfully train and mentor others.

  • Build capacity and expertise in your organization to facilitate the spread of Kata
  • Support certified trainers in preparing more people to practice Kata sooner and on a higher level
  • Confidently and skillfully train and mentor others
  • Build connections to Kata practitioners to compare experiences and share solutions in manufacturing, healthcare, and service industries
