Delivery Method & Schedule
All TWI programs are delivered using the proven four-step methodology
of Preparation, Presentation, Application and Testing that makes
each program simple, straight-forward and easy to learn. Participants
are given the opportunity to practice the four-step method in a
"learn by doing", low-stress, supportive environment.
"J" Classes
The J classes are small by design. Limiting participation to no
more than ten participants insures everyone is actively involved
to maximize learning. Usually, participants attend class for two-hours
each day for five consecutive days. Each day they return to the
workplace after the session to apply the techniques learned. In
every class each participant must select a current day workplace
work sample or example problem and demonstrate to the class how
they apply the method being learned. A sample training schedule

Problem Solving
Problem Solving is more intensive than a “J” class.
PS training signals a commitment to rapid and effective resolution
to production problems at the supervisory level and above. This
commitment is reflected in the training. It needs to be completed
in a working environment by 6 to 8 participants in that company.
The 18.5 hours of classroom instruction are accompanied by 20 hours
of practice on the shop floor. The trainer spends that 20 hours
coaching trainees and providing presentations to decision makers.

Train-the-Trainer
After the practitioners have completed a particular J class or
PS class and had time to practice the methods, TWI practitioners
may wish to develop the skills to become a trainer. For any of the
J programs or PS, they may complete an intensive 40-hour training
program to become a Certified Trainer. (One week: Monday through
Friday.) The week long program can be delivered at a worksite for
a company or in an open enrollment class at a TWI Institute location.
The participants are guaranteed individual attention and opportunities
to practice as the classes are limited to no less than four and
no more than six participants.
