About Us

The TWI Institute is the center for education, trainer certification, and connections for the TWI community of practitioners and trainers. It has created a large and rapidly expanding network of certified trainers based in the United States, delivering the TWI Program here and across the globe. TWI Programs are successfully used in businesses of all sizes in a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, services, and healthcare.

TWI’s rich history originated in the United States in the 1940s where it was developed to support the war effort by boosting industrial production. It was an unqualified success then and continues to be as TWI sustains Lean and standard work. After four years of testing and pilot programs, the TWI Institute was formed in 2005 to oversee the modern redeployment of the program throughout industry. The Institute was founded by and is now hosted by the Central New York Technology Development Organization, a member of the U.S. Manufacturers Extension Partnership (MEP).
